Behind The Soirée Set with DÔEN Founders Margaret and Katherine Kleveland

Our first collaboration with DÔEN was so beloved by all of you that we wanted to give you more. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce The Soirée Set, just in time for the holidays. While our first collaboration embraced the bright days of summer, this set embraces the warmer, richer colors and feelings of the holiday season. The set is filled with two new exclusive shades and a luxe velvet party pouch meant to carry you (and your RMS clean essentials) through the holiday season and beyond. Inside the limited edition set you’ll find brand new shades of our cult-favorite Lip2Cheek and Luminizer, along with our Kakadu Beauty Oil, all cinched up in a luxe black velvet drawstring pochette—that’s French for pouch. 

DÔEN’s approach to their timeless pieces reflects the same classic approach we take to our clean beauty essentials, and this set reflects that, with pieces you’ll come back to again and again. 

We spoke to DÔEN founders (and sisters) Margaret and Katherine Kleveland about how The Soirée Set came to be, what inspired the exclusive pochette design, and why partnering with RMS is such a natural fit. RMS: What inspired The Soirée Set and how did you work with Rose-Marie and the team to dream up this exclusive set?

Margaret and Katherine Kleveland: After finding our perfect Summer shade in our first collaboration, we knew we needed to round out our palette with a seasonal Winter set. Our approach to makeup has always been a less-is-more look, and we wanted to create quintessential shades that tied back to our Holiday collections. We shared our palette wishlist with the incomparable Rose-Marie Swift, and she delivered the perfect buildable wine-stained burgundy and a hint of champagne shimmer. Rose-Marie understands color and beauty, and she celebrates the feminine form in her craft – she’s a visionary in her space and we feel so proud to work with visionary women in their fields. 

RMS: Tell us more about the choice for the velvet pochette, what inspired your use of the fabric, and is there anything special about the velvet you chose to use?

M&K: This collaboration is a celebration of our favorite time of year. The super-luxe velvet makeup pouch doubles as an evening pochette for nights out—ready for on-the-go touch-ups, to reapply a lip or add some extra shimmer at midnight.

RMS: Where will you be wearing The Soirée Set this holiday season? And which DÔEN look will you pair with it?

M&K: The beauty of Rose-Marie’s products lies in the versatility—they can be worn day and night, anywhere and everywhere. For days, we’re living in our knits—a new favorite is our Merit Sweater, spun from plush Italian cashmere and merino blend—with classic denim; at night, we’re opting for party dresses, no matter the dress code (a few of our favorites are the DÔEN Heirloom Gala Dress and the Jubilee Dress, shown below).

RMS: What makes DÔEN a classic brand? 

M&K: We aim to design forever clothes and keepsake pieces designed with a touch of nostalgia and unapologetic femininity. We want our customers to find treasures they’ll love today and be excited to pass on to future generations

Team DÔEN: Tried-and-true denim with chunky cable knits and cozy cashmere, throwing our Pascual Jacket over top when the weather calls for an extra layer.

TD: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott 

RMS: Your take on classic holiday makeup? 

TD: For all this season’s celebrations, a little shimmer and a wine-stained lip—everything The Soirée Set has to offer.

RMS: A classic holiday tradition you look forward to every year? 

TD: It’s such a celebratory time during the holidays – we love to spend quality time with friends and family, often with Roe caviar and champagne.
